FILBY COURT, BURNABY
A two storey, 9 unit apartment featuring a single loaded exterior walkway, accessible and adaptable units. The concept was to provide the opportunity for high functioning, mentally disabled people to live within an integrated setting in the community with dignity in housing which meets their needs and which is within their ability to afford. The residents live as in a cooperative offering support to each other. Filby Court Apartments is part of an extended development which supports and enhances the sense of community for the residents. Adjacent buildings include an integrated daycare facility for infants, toddlers and preschool children, and an accessible respite home.
